OXVA
Refillable pod systems built on the consistent Xlim platform, with a wide coil range and the cheapest consumables in the shop at $9.99 for three pods and $14.99 for five coils.
OXVA is the brand enthusiasts recommend when someone wants a refillable pod system that can be tuned rather than simply used. The Xlim platform is the reason: one pod format, a wide range of coil resistances, and enough adjustment to cover everything from a tight cigarette like draw to a fairly open one.
We stock the Xlim SQ Pro at $29.99, the Xlim Pro at $34.99, the Origin X Pod Mod Kit at $59.99, Xlim Replacement Coils at $14.99 for five and Xlim V3 Replacement Pods at $9.99 for three. It is the most consumable friendly range in the shop.

What a coil platform is and why it matters
Most pod brands change the pod format every generation, which strands the pods and coils you have already bought. OXVA has kept the Xlim pod format consistent across several devices, and that consistency is the main practical argument for the brand.
It means a coil you buy today works in more than one device, and a spare pod from an older kit still fits a newer one. If you own two Xlim devices you carry one set of consumables rather than two, and you are not gambling on whether a format will survive the next product cycle.
It also means a much wider choice of coil resistance than a closed system offers. That is what lets one device cover a tight mouth to lung draw at higher nicotine and a looser restricted lung draw at lower nicotine, simply by changing a coil.
Choosing a coil resistance
Coil resistance is the setting that determines everything about how the device behaves. Higher resistance, generally above 1.0 ohm, restricts current, gives a tight cigarette like draw and suits the higher salt nicotine strengths Canadian retail permits.
Lower resistance, around 0.6 ohm and below, passes more current, produces a warmer and airier draw with considerably more vapour, and needs a much lower nicotine strength because you are inhaling far more aerosol per puff.
The mistake to avoid is dropping the resistance without dropping the strength. Our nicotine strength calculator takes your previous habit and your hardware into account, and our replacement coils range explains the general relationship between resistance, wattage and nicotine.
The three devices and who each suits
The Xlim SQ Pro at $29.99 is the compact option. It is the one to choose if the device is going in a shirt pocket and you want something discreet that still adjusts.
The Xlim Pro at $34.99 is the larger sibling with more battery and usually more adjustment. It suits anyone who wants a full day of heavier use without thinking about charging.
The Origin X Pod Mod Kit at $59.99 is a different proposition: a pod mod that takes a removable battery cell rather than an integrated one. That means you can carry a spare cell and replace a tired one years later rather than replacing the whole device. Battery handling matters here, and our batteries and chargers range covers it.

At $9.99 for three pods and $14.99 for five coils, this is the cheapest refillable range in the shop to run. The saving against a disposable habit is substantial, and our vaping versus smoking cost calculator puts real numbers on it.
What it actually costs to run
The device is a one off cost and the recurring costs are coils, pods and liquid. A coil lasts one to two weeks for most people, a pod housing lasts months, and a moderate vaper uses 2 mL to 4 mL of liquid a day.
Put against a disposable habit at the same consumption, the difference over a year is large enough to change how people think about the format. That is the entire argument for refillables, and it gets stronger the more you vape.
The offsetting cost is attention. You have to fill a pod, prime a coil and occasionally clean something. If that genuinely sounds like a chore you will not do, a closed system such as STLTH will make you happier even though it costs more.
Priming and the first pod
Fit the coil, put a few drops of liquid directly onto the exposed cotton through the coil openings, then fill the pod and leave it standing for a full ten minutes before the first puff. Firing dry cotton carbonises it permanently.
Take a few draws with no power if the device allows it, then start at the lowest setting and work up over the first pod. A new coil often tastes slightly off for the first few millilitres and then comes into its own, which is normal rather than a fault.
Match the liquid to the coil. Higher resistance coils want a thinner 50/50 base, and only the lower resistance coils can handle thicker high VG liquid. Our vape juice range states the ratio on everything we sell, and getting it wrong is the usual cause of coils dying in days.

Airflow adjustment and finding the sweet spot
All three devices offer airflow adjustment, and on this platform it is genuinely worth using rather than setting once and forgetting. The right position changes with the coil resistance and with the liquid.
Close it fully, then open a fraction at a time while drawing, stopping where the draw no longer feels strained. That point is usually very close to the flavour peak. Tighter concentrates and warms the vapour, more open cools it and increases volume.
If the pod gurgles, open it slightly. If the vapour feels thin and cold, close it. As a coil ages, closing the airflow a little often buys a few more days of acceptable flavour before it needs replacing.
Common OXVA problems and fixes
A pod that reads as not connected is almost always condensation in the pod well insulating the contacts. Wipe both the pod contacts and the well with a dry cotton bud and reseat it.
A new coil that burns immediately was fired before the cotton saturated. If it keeps happening on fresh coils, the liquid is too thick for the resistance and the fix is a thinner base rather than more coils.
Leaking is usually overfilling with no air gap, liquid poured into the central airway rather than down the side of the fill port, or draws that are too hard. Our walkthrough at why a vape stops hitting covers the diagnostic order for any refillable device.
How OXVA compares with other brands we stock
Against Uwell, the closest comparison, both are refillable pod systems with strong reputations. Caliburn is the reference for a tight mouth to lung draw, while Xlim offers a broader coil range and, in our listings, cheaper consumables.
Against Vaporesso and Voopoo, which run their own coil platforms, the comparison is about which ecosystem you want to buy into rather than about quality.
Against disposables from Gcore, Vice or Lost Mary, the trade is stark: OXVA costs more up front and far less per millilitre, and it asks you to handle liquid in return. Our refillable versus disposable vapes comparison sets that out with numbers rather than opinion.
Keeping an Xlim working well
Refillable devices reward a small amount of routine attention, and the whole routine takes a couple of minutes a week.
Wipe the pod well and the pod contacts with a dry cotton bud weekly, because condensation collects there and insulates the connection. Rinse and dry the pod housing whenever you change coil or flavour family, or the previous liquid will linger in the new one for days. Check the seals on the pod when you change a coil and replace a pod whose seals look flattened, since those are what stop leaking.
Keep the tank above a quarter full rather than running it near empty, because the juice ports uncover and the wick starts drying long before the pod looks empty. Store the device upright when it is not in use, so liquid stays away from the airway and the first draw of the morning is not a flooded one. Spare seals and cleaning supplies are in our accessories range.
Canadian availability and the rules that apply
Every OXVA product we list sits at or under the federal 20 mg/mL nicotine cap set out in Tobacco and Vaping Products Act. That is why Canadian versions are not directly comparable to the same model sold in markets with a higher ceiling, which is worth knowing if you are reading international reviews.
Because these are refillable devices, the nicotine cap applies to the liquid you buy for them rather than to the hardware. Everything in our vape juice range sits at or under the federal ceiling and provincial flavour rules are tracked in vaping laws by province. The Origin X takes a removable cell, which must be carried in a plastic case rather than loose in a pocket.
We operate an age gate on every visit and ship only inside Canada in Canadian dollars. Carriers, timings and tracking are on our shipping and delivery page and faults on our returns policy page. Anything containing a lithium cell travels in cabin baggage rather than checked luggage when flying, as Transport Canada lithium battery rules requires, and our guide to taking a vape on a plane covers the rest.
Common questions
Are OXVA Xlim pods and coils cross compatible?
Largely yes, which is the main argument for the brand. OXVA has kept the Xlim pod format consistent across several devices, so a coil or pod you buy today works in more than one device rather than being stranded at the next product cycle.
Which OXVA device should I buy?
The Xlim SQ Pro at $29.99 for discreet carry, the Xlim Pro at $34.99 for a full day of heavier use, and the Origin X Pod Mod at $59.99 if you want a removable battery cell so you can carry a spare and replace it years later.
What coil resistance should I choose?
Above 1.0 ohm for a tight cigarette like draw with higher salt nicotine, and around 0.6 ohm or below for a warmer airier draw with much lower nicotine. The mistake to avoid is dropping the resistance without dropping the strength.
How much cheaper is this than disposables?
Considerably, and the gap widens the more you vape. Pods are $9.99 for three and coils $14.99 for five, with liquid the only other recurring cost. A disposable habit means repurchasing a battery and a shell every few days alongside the liquid.
Why does my new coil burn within days?
Usually the liquid is too thick for the resistance. Higher resistance coils want a thinner 50/50 base, and high VG liquid cannot wick fast enough through them. If it burns immediately on the first puff, the cotton was fired before it saturated.
Do I need to use the airflow control?
It is worth it on this platform. The right position changes with the coil and the liquid. Close it fully, open a fraction at a time while drawing, and stop where the draw stops feeling strained, which is usually very close to the flavour peak.
